The winery…
Founded in the early 1980s, the winery cultivates 6 hectares of vineyards on the San Nicolao hill, just outside Nizza Monferrato. Bruno Ciocca, born in 1943 and founder, wisely and passionately manages the vines and wine production together with Luca Voglino, the oenologist, offering a range of native wines that enhance the qualities of the terroir on which the winery lies (white marl and sand). The average annual production is around 20,000 to 25,000 bottles, divided into four types of Barbera, the most important variety in the Asti and Nizza area, which include a Barbera d’Asti, a Barbera d’Asti Superiore from old vines, a Nizza, and a Nizza Riserva (the latter in Magnum format, reserved for members of the Wine Club). The range is completed by a sparkling version made according to the Classic Method from Cortese, sourced from a portion of vineyard over 60 years old. The company philosophy is based on sustainable agriculture in the service of a very careful supply chain, resulting in wines with a strong identity, aiming to capture in the glass the varietal and evolving notes in a harmonious blend of elegance, flavor, and longevity.
The winemaker…
BRUNO VITTORIO CIOCCA
Owner and co-founder together with his wife Anna, he has been working as a winemaker in his hometown, Nizza Monferrato, for over forty years. Always connected to his land and an attentive supporter of the "Nizza" movement since its beginnings: in the 1990s he was among the founding members of the Nizza Producers Association, where he was appointed Vice President of the first board. Bruno's vision is simple and concrete: to produce good wines, pleasant to drink, clean and authoritative, that enhance the values of the land and the person who cares for it. Wines born on a very suitable portion of hillside, well exposed to the sun, worked with respect for varietal characteristics and bottled to mature for a long time in the cellar. Despite his age and long career, Bruno is still today the supervisor of all production processes, starting from the delicate operations in the vineyard, meticulous thinning and the qualitative examination of the grapes, leading with experience an ancient farmhouse in the modern world and bottling wines that, in their own way, know how to tell a story.
